This is a great apple purée that can be made with any kind of apple (or even pears). A sweet addition to your favorite dessert or cheese course, this is a versatile, delicious recipe that we love to make.

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Core and halve apples.

In a large pan over medium heat, melt butter. Cover melted butter with a layer of sugar.

Place apple halves face-down in pan.

Add the juice of half a lemon to pan.

Place pan in hot oven for 25 minutes.

When apples are baked and soft, remove apple pulp from pan and add to blender. Discard the apple skins. Add some of the remaining sauce from the pan to the blender as well.

Blend for three to five minutes until very smooth.

Prepare the purée for plating or add to your favorite dessert.
